ABOUT

My name is John Scott Stevens,
I have been certified as a kettlebell instructor under Pavel Tsatsouline since 2008. I approach strength and kettlebell training with the discipline of a martial art practice.
I teach private and group classes as well as workshop in and around the Omaha area. I specialize in working with young athletes and helping adults return to safe training and high levels of performance.
Some of my favorite success stories include
-
training young athletes who have been given up on or ignored by their coaches and helping them return the following season to dominate their teammates in physical performance and work capacity.
-
helping those frustrated and plagued with exercise induced injuries to train safely and return to high levels of performance.
-
instructing other personal trainers and coaches in the proper use of kettlebells so that they can safely help their clients.
-
Helping fat-loss clients accelerate their progress with proper strength training.
-
Getting people who consider themselves unathletic to conquer their first strict pushup, pullups and heavy deadlifts.
-
Developing average health seekes into StrongFirst candidates and instructors.
I was frustrated with silly exercise routines, macho madness and poor exercise technique taught in local gyms. In 2006 I discovered the writings of Pavel Tsatsouline and instantly became a fan of his straight-forward "less is more" approach to strength and flexibility. In 2007 starting training with the break-in program and Rite of Passage from "Enter the Kettlebell". Within short time I made dramatic improvements in posture, strength, performance and body compostiion. I rehabilitated two long-lasting injuries was able to dramatically lowered my resting heart rate.
In 2008 I earned my Kettlebell instructor certification under Pavel and have been teaching others ever since. I currently hold advanced Level II Kettlebell Instructor and Bodyweight Strength instructor certifications under Pavel Tsatsouline and I am in the process of completing my Barbell Instructor Certification. I hold a CK-FMS instructor certificate through FMS and Dragon Door. I am also a 5th Degree Black Belt and an internationally licensed master instructor with the Kukkiwon and integrate Pavel's strength training and stretching methods as well as the FMS and corrective exercise into my martial arts teaching and practice.

"Best workout in nearly 15 years"
Family and friends thought that I was a bit crazy for traveling over an hour just to work with an RKC instructor, but learning from John Scott Stevens was worth every minute of the drive. I had never touched a kettlebell before, but the thorough, clear, and detailed introduction left me wanting more of these crazy cannonball-like workout tools....and I attribute my enthusiasm to the expert instruction that I received from RKC Scott Stevens. I don't think that I have come close to pushing myself as hard in....oh maybe 15 years. Even a hard run doesn't take me near what John Scott Stevens pushed me....and the best part was that the challenging workout was coupled with safe, easy-to-understand instruction...and it was honestly fun. He is undoubtedly an expert, and I appreciated it. I will, without question, be returning for more in the near future.

"My best shape since I played football in college"
I trained with Scott for over a year. He is a great teacher who takes time to explain every aspect of kettlebell. I have 2 herniated disks in my back so I was skeptical at first but with proper instruction and focus on safety I was able to experience kettlebell without any pain. In fact my back never felt better and I was able to get in the best shape since I played football in college. I would highly recommend kettlebell and Scott as an instructor to anyone!!

"One of the best"
Scott Stevens is one of the best instructors-teachers that I have known in my life time (I'm over 50). He has this personality, style that goes with any other personality. His work ethics is second to none. Scott makes everyone in the class feel like they are important. I like the way he helps and advises people with their techniques. Scott will take the time to make sure you understand the proper way to do the exercise in as many ways until you get it. I always feel like I get a good workout when I come to Kettlebell class. I really like how Scott challenges everyone and himself. I always feel that Scott will go above and beyond to help you in anyway he can.
